Off to Italy end of next week. Have Classic Climbs in Dolomites book (aka Classic Crowded Climbs book). Wonder if anyone has other guides to the area we could borrow or can recommend any particular sports/trad  (not too hard!!)  climbs. Cheers

Tony

PS Would look after guides with great care of course.

  1. Hi Tony,

The options are endless for sport and trad climbing.... What area exactly are you heading to?  We can help you out with some places to go climbing as we are currently living here in South Tyrol, in the Italian Dolomites.  A great guide book for this area is Sportclimbing and bouldering in South Tyrol (which is in german and italian only but theres good pics for an english speaker).  If you let us know a few more specifics about where you will be we will be happy to recommend some places for you to visit - maybe we will even see you here!

    Cheers, Bella and Philipp

    Hi Bella,

Thanks for the reply. Not sure of the itinerary as yet, meeting a mate in Geneva  this Sunday and driving east! Think it will be mainly in the Sella/Brenta and Tofana areas but it is all possible.  And weather dependent of course. Any absolute must does, not in the main crowds?

It would be great to meet up, are you on phone? There are other Tasmanians there in the same time we are hoping to catch up with too.

    Cheers

    Tony

BTW, are you related to Sean?

    1. Hi Tony,

Sorry its taken me ages to get back to you, I guess your enjoying yourself somewhere in the Mountains..   There is a bit of a cold snap here at the moment, so possibly you are around Lake Garda or somewhere its a bit warmer.  We live in a town called Welschnofen which is just below Mt Rosengarten, which has many classic trad climbs, a beautiful mountain... Which is about an hour away from Sella.  In the Sella area is a huge sport climbing place called the Stone City which also has endless bouldering possibilities...  A beautiful nearby valley is called Nicolas Tal, with great walks up to sport climbing spots and trad climbs also.

Our number is 0471613622, if the weather is good we'll be going for a climb this sunday, and if you're wanting to look at guide books we've got a few here you can take a look at.

      All the best, Bella

Im not related to Sean as far as I know.. but you know Tassie..
