From Carrie Southern,

Hi Jon and Tommy,

Finally, I have a draft site plan for you to see! It’s a very pragmatic approach to the site – focusing on environmental remediation, improved access for climbers and public safety. I’m going to run a couple of casual ‘drop-in’ sessions next week for people to view and comment on the draft plan.

Could you please forward the following text to your members, and/or post on your website/facebook page:

DRAFT FRUEHAUF CLIMBING CLIFF SITE PLAN

THE CITY OF HOBART IS SEEKING YOUR VIEWS

The City of Hobart, with input from the Climbing Club of Tasmania and the UTAS Climbing Club, has prepared a draft site plan for the cliff known as ‘Fruehauf’ within the Hobart Rivulet Park.

The draft site plan responds to a request to improve environmental management, access for climbers, and public safety at the site, by members of the local climbing community.

The draft site plan includes upgrading the main access track, stabilising erosion and revegetation at the base of the cliff, installation of warning signage, and a safety fence at the top of the cliff.

How you can comment...

Attend a casual ‘drop-in’ session to view and comment on the draft site plan on:

-       Thursday 13 August at the Rock It Indoor Climbing Centre, between 6pm and 7.30pm; or

-       Sunday 16 August at Fruehauf (picnic table in play space below the cliff) between 2pm and 3.30pm

I’ll also put some notices up in the climbing gym and one at Fruehauf with the session times on it. Hope to see you soon.

Cheers,
