  3. Re: Anyone keen to climb around Launceston

There are a few people around, climbing mostly out at Hillwood. If you don't find someone to climb with just rock up at penny royal carpark/ kings bridge at 5:00pm for a social climb in the gorge. Not sure who or where people will be this week though.
  4. Re: Climb Northern Tasmania Guide Updates

Great initiative for the blog Gerry ! Can't wait to see all this new climbs put up at Bare Rock. Are they any routes yet on the slightly overhanging wall which start at half height on the LHS ? I remembered this looked amazing from a distant. Migrated to Confluence 4.0
  5. Re: Launceston City Council Chops Cataract Gorge Bolts

The climbs that were chopped yesterday: Schizo The New Move Prohibitionist No Dams All lead bolts and anchors were chopped. They were cut with an angle grinder and there are still shiny, sharp 1cm stubs poking out of the rock. Migrated to Confluence 4.0
  6. Re: Finding Arthur's Circus - Mt Wellington

Dean and I had fun dithering around at Arthur's Circus yesterday. For those who want to get oriented... A few metres below the big ol' cairn is a tunnel in the rock, through which you can see the finish of "What a Circus". Migrated to Confluence 4.0
  7. Re: Blue Meridian - pitch 1 anchor

Cheers for the input Simon (I obviously didn't notice last time I was there!) - that all seems to make sense. I assumed the bolt was deep enough to be in solid rock. Let me know if you want someone to haul the load cell up the hill with you... Migrated to Confluence 4.0

  9. Re: New Routes and News 2012

Work at Waterworks. A tonne of rock has been removed from the previously unstable area between Pathetic Nongs and OJL. There is still probably more to come down  - CAUTION is advised if you are in the area! The foothold to the L of the crux of OJL went as part of the fall and the crux is now a tad harder

  10. Re: New Routes and News 2013

Two new routes at the neglected cliff of Devils Gullet, by Gerry Narkowicz and Doug Fife. The rock quality was found to be excellent, and the multi-pitch route required little cleaning - a lovely neat crack for 55m on the first pitch. Done in SHIT SIMON STYLE, rap cleaned and inspected
