In the South West, about two hours drive from Hobart. From New Norfolk drive to Maydena and then into the South West National Park. 5km past the Scotts Peak Dam turnoff turn right onto Clear Hill Road. 16km down the gravel road there is a large boulder on the right hand side of the road. Park 50m on from this and follow the track up the slippery bank on the right hand side of the road to the first boulder, the High Wire. Follow the blue tapes up the hill to the top of the hill to find Pyramid Rock and the Bear Pit, follow the orange tapes to the Trapeze. See Craglets for more details.

Rock

Steep, pocketed, juggy conglomerate boulders up to 20m high. The rock is like chunks of quartzite held together by a cement of smaller pebbles. It is surprisingly hard and also quite sharp. All the routes are fully equipped with fixed hangars or eye bolts. There is also quite a bit of good bouldering at Adamsfield, and lots of potential for more.

A good flat and sheltered camping area exists behind Pyramid Rock, but there is no water. There are also a couple of caves formed by the boulders. Most people tend to camp by their cars down on the road. Although the crag isn't in the National Park you might have to pay the entry fee to be able to get there.

Season

Generally the area is too wet and cold in winter (although some routes are climbable in the rain). Probably November to April are best.
