Introduction
As well as the bouldering at Elderslie there has been a handful of routes developed with the potential for a few more. So far all the developed routes are on one vertical face up on the left hand side of the gulley area (see bouldering guide).
Access
To get there drive up the Midlands Highway from Hobart towards Brighton. Take the left hand road just before Brighton (Elderslie Road). Follow this road for 15 minutes or so before reaching Elderslie (not much more than a few farms and a golf club). Take a right a few kilometres out of Elderslie (Clifton Vale Road) and follow this dirt road for about 5 kilometres before reaching a Y intersection; take the right road (to Dysart), you will go up a rise and then the road will go down again, after about 1.8 km you will come to a large pull-out on the left. Go through the gate on the opposite side of the road, and cross the river at the ford (usually OK except after rain). Head across the paddock to the entrance to the valley. Once through the gate, head left up the hill to where it flattens out. Follow the fairly flat and clear area up the valley towards the obvious face on the left hand side of the valley (visible from the parking area).

Crystal Wall

The first large boulder you come to is called the Crystal Boulder. Straight above this is a series of short yellow cliffs.

The face with 3 or 4 old glued in carrots of unknown origin, straight above the Crystal Boulder. Needs a good clean.

Main Wall

The largest section of rock on the left hand side of the valley, visible from the car park. Keep going for 3 or 4 boulders past Crystal Wall and then head straight up the hill to a series of brown water washed walls. There is a prominent yellow sandy cave and cliff to the right of the routes. The large grassy flat area above the wall is accessible by walking past the routes and up along a series of ramps.

Fun climbing. Start as per Thirsty Merkin and head left, harder than it looks.

The line of old carrots at the right hand side of the wall, starting from the cave on the right. Details unknown, could be fun with new hardware.
