Hi All, I have a project near Deloraine - its called Flinty Rock. Its a large glacial erratic approx 200m long and 40m high. There are maybe 10-15 climbs on it of varying grades. Wondering if anyone is interested in spending a day on it with me. Will be working out anchors, rappelling down the face and hopefully doing some climbing. I am hoping to get onto it this weekend if weather permits. Let me know if interested. Thanks. : )

  1. any photos to entice the crowds? what sort of rock?

    1. Yeah, a picture would be great. Anything look hard (i.e. 28+) or is it mostly easier terrain?

I've been exploring a few things out Deloraine way myself and found some really high quality quartzite. I will post the details when I get a few more things sorted, but here's a fairly unbecoming pic of a short section of wall with a 24/25, 20/21, and 22ish (I'm not very good at grading in this range hence the slashes). There's another really cool steeper section with a few things probably in the upper 20s but I ran out of hangers and haven't tried them yet

      .

  2. Sounds cool... while im certainly not the man to help you out, wouldnt know a good climb from a bad one to save myself, very keen to hear how you progress. easy access?

    keep us up to date!

  3. I checked it out about 5 years ago and thought it was not worth developing. A couple of short shear faces and the rest fairly scrappy.

    1. So, a good spot for shearing? ;-)
