TheSarvo appears to be lacking in a guide for (Northern) Badgers beyond a mere mention in Other Northern Crags. TheCrag has a list of climbs in the area but a bit short on detailed beta for which crag is which.

I don't have access to my copy of Climb Northern Tas so I don't know what's in there or how up-to-date that is.

Anyone on here with the goss for the area and happy for me to pick their brains?? GPS coords of which wall is where from TheCrag.com mostly.

Cheers

Dave

  1. Hi Dave,

I've been up there twice over the last two years and have found there to be around 10 or so new routes done by Henry Lindner and his partner. Some really good additions to the area.

There also seems to be a fair bit more potential for new routes the further you walk along the walking track

Next time I'm up there I'll collect coordinates etc. new photos and everything else needed to write it up on here.

    Cheers,

    Tommy

  2. Climb Northern Tas was up to date when it was written in 2004. Cant imagine much has been done since

  3. A couple of links that may help getting to the main areas. The 'Kentish Walks' volunteer group have been formalising walking track networks in the area, in addition to the new mountain bike trails about the range. Some fancy new trail heads!

The new Morgan Skyline Track should provide good access to most of the main cliff areas (the Trident Buttress etc) across this part of the range https://www.facebook.com/groups/kentishwalks/permalink/1022448805282607 OR follow the ridge south from the communications tower..

For access to the bouldering areas listed on this site - this brochure provides the most up to date trail info. From memory you want to follow the "bouldering track" or the "Maraea's Lookout track" https://www.facebook.com/groups/kentishwalks/permalink/1022446698616151

**NOTE these maps are not aligned to north. See north pointing arrow on maps.

Here is the link to said bouldering guide on the southern portion of the range - Sheffield bouldering

I'm not too sure whether the new mountain bike trails cross over into the older walking track network (the bouldering area specifically), but I'll attach the link below to the Wild Mersey trail maps https://ridewildmersey.com.au/trails.html#stage3

    Hope this helps!
