Bobs funeral is on this Friday at 11am at the Tailrace Centre in Riverside, then afterwards at the Royal Oak hotel at 2pm for monumental shindig/slideshow/piss up
Bob McMahon, legend of Tasmanian climbing and a dear friend passed away in his sleep last night at the age of 62. It seems it was probably a heart attack. Condolences to his wife and family. He will be sorely missed.
Hi there
Im heading to New Zealand this August to the NZ ice festival with also the intension of doing some alpine routes (weather permitting). Im wondering if any one is interested.
If so give us a call on 0438087477 or email hangdoging@hotmail.com
Cheers Garry
I had a call from Brian Proudlock yesterday, who was one of the founding members of the CCT and keen to chat about its history.
According to Deano's circular reference here: CCT Circulars Reference the CCT was founded in 1964 or 65? Which means the 50th anniversary is coming up in the next year or two.
Brian has most of the original material produced by the CCT - circulars and magazines, which I will try and scan any of the stuff missing from the library/archives, and is keen to catch up with anybody from that period.

The new boom gate has been attacked with an angle grinder (not by climbers) and is held in place by a stick. What was a 30 minute walk, is now 10 minutes as you can drive all the way to the base of the power line easement track. Went up there on the weekend to take photo topos for the new guide and was reminded what a superb bunch of routes - 15 long pitches on steep rock in an alpine setting. Deserves more traffic.
