The guys at the list have released a new, much better, used interface for theLIST map:
http://maps.thelist.tas.gov.au/listmap/app/list/map
it's much more responsive and now works on iPads and phones.
they have created a new base topographic map, and improved the orthographic image layer. There is also a handy layer which shows public land.
Alright, went to Oatlands today, water level seems to have been continuously dropping over the last couple of months.
The following areas/subareas/problems are now above the water table and climbable or have been above water the whole time:
Upper Dam
Dead Sheep Cave
Rumble Cave
Dark Side Area - still another foot or so of water under the roof but three climbs up the face and the two traverses can be done of rocks, just don't fall :-)
Right Side - everything above water
Fallen Block - the two V3's (Lucifer and unnamed) facing the Right Side area fine
Highball Wall - needs gardening
Warm Up Blocks
Backdoor Blocks
Hidden Wall - some parts need some gardening but not much really
Lower Dam
Lloyd's Wall + slabs in front - needs some gardening
The Egg Boulder (just enough to do both problems which face the cliff)
The Gorse Factory
The Bakehouse - needs gardening
The Yellow Cave
Dam Wall Left (only partially out of the water)
Dam Wall Boulder
Funky Town Boulder
Funky Town Cave - access path needs some cutting back of Bracken
Funky Town Wall - needs some gardening
Electric Avenue
Electric Wall
The Devil's Kitchen in most places still has around a foot of water on the landings.
The Island is still inaccessible and most of the landings still look like they're submerged.

Hi there
Have you heard about missing master corporal Prabh Srawn? He is missing in Canberra Australia. The Australian government is not getting involved as he is a foreigner though they claim the search is scaled down. We need more man power to help. We are offering a $100,000 reward to whoever finds him dead or alive. Please contact me if you can assist in any way. Australian search teams that are regulated by the government want to help but can't.
We have his location narrowed down and the resources to assist. Please look his story up and contact me. I know you have connections with many hikers and if you can get the word out to them it would be really appreciated. Even if you aren't able to physically hike it would still be very helpful if you get in touch with us just to guide us from your own experience. Being that we are from Canada we have not been able to reach many people in Australia we do not have many hikers that are available to help us and we are very desperate. Time is of the essence and you could literally potentially save his life. Please, please help us. I know that this may not be your area of expertise or even your country but any tips or help you can offer would be amazing.
Bring a son home for Father's Day! Please you can save a life today

JED, Just noticed the new topo for HMW right hand end. The routes are clear. Excellent work, by the way.
The LHS of the hazards main wall topo has a couple of routes marked incorrectly. I'll work on it and send it through to you.
Cheers, Al
Hi Guys
On Saturday, some friends and I (from Hobart) went to Hillwood for the weekend. I wanted to have a go with Zach at 'Raiden Pump' (25). I put the draws on, and decided to leave them to have another go at it on Sunday. I did exactly the same thing with 'Hang on a tree' (24) in the main gully. To weak to onsight the grade, that's maybe my problem...
The next day, Zach and I jumped on 'Hang on a tree'. In the middle of the arvo, I went towards Raiden Pump ... and WTF ?? All the draws were missing !! I really could not believe it. that's 9 draws in total.
I leave you imagine the state of mind I was in. So of course it's really low ... and sad. I know it does not reflect the climbing community at all. I can't really imagine this kind of things happen in Tassie.
I also know the person who did that did it on purpose, and can't be a climber, although it's someone with some rope skills who had to rap off a dodgy cliff from a tree. Definitely not some dumb climber who said 'oh someone forgot some draws on a 25, heaps of booties for me ! '
We were pretty much all weekend long there. We left at 6pm on Saturday when it was dark, and a group of other friends who were with us arrived at 930 am on sunday at the crag. So the person who stole the draws did it on purpose either over night or early in the morning (more likely over night). it's also a person who can't have many friends from the climbing community, he would be recognised too quickly by having draws belonging to too many people. It can't be a climber, because what the hell would you do with so many stolen draws in your house ?? for all your projects in your secret crags ?? no way, it's someone who runs a business out of it, who posts them to a mate living on the mainland to sell them back from gumtree or ebay months later.
I talked on Sunday with 2 climbers from lonnie, Baz (?) and Alec. They told us that the same week, a sign was left on a climb hung by two binners saying it was getting rebolted. Couple of days later, the sign was on the ground with a rock on top, and the binners were gone.
Nice mentality ! Some people give everything to the rock climbing community, some take everythin ...
It's more than likely it's the same person who did that. It has to be someone living really really close, who can check overday if cars are parked.
I remember a comment from Mark Polinski saying some of his draws were stolen, was this at the Mersey ?
Anyway guys, it's sad, but watch out. don't leave your draws on projects when it's a 5minutes walk to the crag only.
The good thing is the draws we left on 'hang on a tree' were not stolen. So thank you to you ! Zach can still go on his climbing trip in 2 weeks !
The missing draws :
3 hoodwire black diamonds with blue nail polish :
2 heliums with blue nail polish
4 freewire black diamonds
In case of repentance, the draws can be shipped back to :
University of tasmania
Laurent Besnard,private bag 21, IMOS
Sandy Bay, Hobart
Cheerio
Loz
PS: Some other groups of people were with us on Saturday, I'd appreciate to know if you've noticed anything
Hi all.
looking for some people to do some outdoor activities with. I currently live in Dodges Ferry outside of Hobart. I now have plenty of time off during the week including some afternoons. Looking for people keen on hiking, climbing, skiing/touring, running, caving, kayaking, diving etc. Really keen to try new adventure sports.
If you are around and keen let me know.
Thanks everyone.
Mark
