  3. Re: Tasmanian Bolting Wars

The bolts at the top of LFM are now gone.  I forgot to bring something to bog up the holes with, but at least the stubs aren't there any more.  I will go back up and fill the holes with grey silicone (left after some kitchen renovations!) and add some rock dust to help disguise them. I won't be able to do

  4. Re: De Gaulles Direct

. The rock however allows free climbing in the most unlikely and spectacular places. Adam and Gareth's bolted climbs do respect a reasonable ethic … out an kill themselves. But this is probably only acceptable for bolted or pegged routes as bolts/pitons represent permanent defacement of the rock. For example

  10. Sleepy Bay to Wineglass Bay

This the classic Tasmanian coastal traverse.  Locally, it's usually refered to as "The Sea Level Traverse".  The cliffs along the coast here are big (up to around 250m) and slabby, with exceptionally high quality rock and enormous features (fissures, flakes etc).  The coast is quite exposed but frequently calm enough
