Hi All,

I am moving to Hobart in a couple of months and have been trying to find out a little more about climbing in the area. I was gutted to hear that the Uni climbing gym closed recently, AND the Edge gym is also closed! Are there any indoor climbing gyms in Hobart at the moment? Is the Uni climbing gym considering re-opening? I have my fingers crossed!

    Hey Claire,

     The Uni wall will be re-opened asap, which could mean two weeks or two months! There's a heap of paperwork that they are just passing onto their legal people now, so it just depends on them to say it's all OK...In other words, there aren't any commercial climbing gyms in Hobart now, and who knows what the enigma called Lorano is up to. The outside is better anyway!

      Thanks for this, I guess I will just have to wait and see what happens!

      I agree the outside is better, but as I'm pretty new here I don't have anyone to go climbing with! Would love to hear of any developments with the Uni gym, hopefully it will be back up and running soon!

    Uni Climbing Gym is open again :)

    Open Tue & Thu, 6 till 9

    However before u can climb at the gym you have to have done the uni gym induction (and be a member of the uni climbing club $40 for non students)

    Inductions are with the uni gym they are at 530 and will be happening for the next couple of weeks.

      And REALLY crowded. We have given up.....

       BTW, inductions are on Thursday only I think.

    the first month of semester is always busy, starts dying off after that. from 6 - 730 is the busiest times on any given night too. but summers not too far away i guess...

      Seems the gym is now closed for up to 4 months while the rain damage to the floor is repaired.
