The Saddle

All Day
Introduction
The area directly behind the main area hill. It has some great vertical walls, some of which are quite high. There is also some steep potential on the lower side.
Access
Either head to The Valley and then up out of the rim on the mine side or from the creek line just after Hell Or High Water head up and over.
The Saddle
This is a flatish area directly behind the Main Area hill, between this hill and the Valley proper. Some awesome highballs and hard projects to go.
Yeehaw
Smallish boulder when you first get up onto the saddle coming from the Valley.

SDS under the right side of the arete on a great, right hand, side pull, jug. Then straight up.
Mo Bassett 06.01.2023
Start under the obvious feature on the right face. One hard pull to get to that feature and then up.

Cowboy Beebop
A nice, super low ball warm up, just before The Duel.
Up the left side.
James Ridgers 09.01.2022
Up the right arete and traverse the lip.

The Duel
A great boulder with some really fun climbs and a nice height. To get off ask your spotter to drag a pad round to the lowest point, down climb the slab and drop off. Named after the 2016 film and the discussions about grades had between the old veteran climber trying to make a come back and the up start trying to make his name. So hopefully they will see some ascents soon to end the debate.
When heading into the saddle you should see it just in front of The Quick and The Dead wall.
SDS to the right of the arete up the big black pebbles. Need to get body position right.
Mo Bassett 08.01.2022
A great compression arete problem. Start sitting on the small boulder use the left hand holds from the previous problem for your right and the the side pulls for the left. Follow the arete up and turn the lip just before the highest point.
Mo Bassett 11.01.2022
A great face problem straight up the highest part of the boulder. Hardest move is half way and its not over until the top.
Mo Bassett 10.01.2022
Another great, easier face problem finishing on the lower left side. SDS and straight up, avoiding the big flake on the left.

Back of the Dual
The slab at the back pf the Dual that can be used as an alternate descent is actually a pretty nice easy problem.
Ben Thorp 7.01.2023
Start hanging low on the arete, a punching move to start and then some big solid knobs to yank up the arete with.
Ben Thorp 7.01.2023
Start next to the tree and make a few nice moves up the face headed to the cementious feature and then the lip. Not technically FA'd as yet as a hold popped on the lip sending the keen quota seeker plumetting and then hobbling back to the road over 5 hours with a badly sprained ankle!
The Quick and The Dead Wall
A super aesthetic, vertical wall with some nice high lines waiting for someone brave. Head towards the mine and this wall is on the valley side of the biggest rock feature in The Saddle Area.
On the far right end.
Michael Sirianni
On the right end, the purple streak staying right of the flake.
Mo Bassett 08.01.2022
The yellow wall just to the left of the previous route, in-between the two streaks. Start on the great left in cut side pull and straight up to a double mantel, if you're short.
Mo Bassett 08.01.2022
A nice long traverse all the way from far left to far right.

The MoonBoard
This is a great big boulder with heaps of potential. One side appears like a spray wall behind some trees, 30 to 40 degrees overhanging with problems on the right side being about 3m but on the far left about 10m. However the ground rises with the wall so the falls are all nice and small. Only two lines done so far but there is potential for some hard mega lines. Another side has some nice easy high slabs and the back short super steep lines.
From The Saddle head down past The Quick and The Dead wall towards the creek line and what looks like a squat boulder directly under the view of the mine. The first side you will come to is the MoonBoard like side.

The view coming down from the saddle.
Start on the right side of the rail, just left of the roof and head straight up with some big moves.
Mo Bassett 05.01.2023
One of the best lines yet! Start on the rail to the left of the previous problem, directly under the obvious limestone sloper jug. Move up the immaculate incut crimp, then the jug, some more crimps and a big dyno to finish.
Mo Bassett 31.01.2023
So much potential on the left side of this wall.
Warm Up Canyon
This is a narrow space between two boulders up on the hill. Some good easy warm-ups and a low-ball project.

Straight up the nice face.

Start low and up.
Project
Starts as for James Epic and once upright head left to top out.
Liam W 09.01.2022
Traverse across the face above the diagonal break.
Start on the very nice big pebble and step up onto it and reach up for the top.

On the opposite side of the canyon is a rightwards traverse with some of the nicest sidepulls around.
