thesarvo.com welcomes contributions from anybody who has content to add.
To edit the content of the site, sign up for an account (the menu at the top right), then sign in and open the page you want to change. Use Edit in the page menu. The Guide Manual explains how to edit a guide, and how to insert text, climbs, problems and photos.
Or if you can't manage the above, contact us with your info, and we'll add it to the site.

However the content is licensed to users under the Creative Commons licence.

Basically, you can use the contents of this site for whatever you like, and make copies. However derivative works must be licensed under a similar licence. This is summed up as "Share and Share Alike". The upshot of this is that if you use the contents of this site in any publication, the publication must be free to download.
App privacy policy
thesarvo iOS and Android app privacy policy. Last updated 29 October 2026.
Introduction
This policy explains what the thesarvo.com app ("the App", on the Apple App Store and Google Play) does with information. In short: the App has no accounts, no advertising and no analytics, and we do not collect personal information about you. By using the App you accept this policy.
Information we collect
- No registration. The App does not ask you to register or sign in, so we hold no name, email address or username for App users.
- No usage tracking. The App contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and we do not collect usage data or crash reports from it.
- Location. If you allow it, the App uses your device's location only for its map: to show where you are and to suggest nearby crags. Your location is used on your device and is not sent to us. The map itself is drawn by Google Maps, which receives the requests needed to show the map (see below).
- Guide downloads. The App downloads guide content and images from thesarvo.com. Like any web server, our hosting provider (Amazon Web Services) records standard technical details of each request, such as the IP address and time, in server logs. We do not use these logs to identify or track individuals, and they are kept only for as long as needed to run and secure the service.
- On your device. Downloaded guides, and any settings you choose, are stored on your device only, and are removed when you delete the App.
How we use information
We do not collect personal information, so we do not use it for any purpose. Server logs are used only to keep the service running and secure.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent or share personal information, because we do not hold any. The only third parties involved are the services the App relies on: Google Maps, for the map, which is covered by Google's privacy policy; and Amazon Web Services, which hosts thesarvo.com.
Security
Because the App keeps no personal data about you, there is none to lose, and your location stays on your device.
Children
The App is general-purpose and collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
Your rights
As we hold no personal data about App users, there is nothing to access, correct or delete. You can stop all location use at any time in your device's settings, and remove everything the App stores by deleting it.
The website
This policy covers the App only. If you create an account on the thesarvo.com website to edit guides or use the forum, the account details you give (such as your email address and name) are used only to run your account and show your contributions, and are not shared or sold.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page, with a new "last updated" date, so please check it now and then.
