GPS
Every GPS point recorded in the thesarvo guides, for all of Tasmania in one file. Pick the one your app or device reads:
- All the GPS points as a GPX file: for GPS units and apps such as Gaia GPS, Garmin BaseCamp and OsmAnd. Points are waypoints, tracks and areas are tracks, and each is labelled with its guide.
- All the GPS points as a KML file: for Google Earth, with the guides in folders as they are in the contents.
The files are rewritten whenever a guide's GPS changes. Each guide also has its own GPS table and map, and the contents page of a region has a KML of just that region under its map.
Grid references
- Points are given as UTM grid references: metres east and metres north within a Zone. In Tasmania the Zone is always 55G.
- All points here use the GDA94 datum, which for our purposes is the same as WGS84, the global standard your phone and GPS use.
- Older Tasmaps (including the original 1:25K sheets) use the earlier AGD66 datum. To convert a GDA94 reference to AGD66, subtract 112 from the easting and 183 from the northing. Mix them up and you will be about 150 metres out, so check the legend of your map.
